Fic Meme
Post the first line from your last 25 fanfics and try to find a pattern.

5. Commander Seri Shepard was... intriguing. (Mass Effect: Scars)
6. It was Chora's Den with its Asari dancers that started it. (Mass Effect: and a harder down than stone)
7. Sean leaned on the table, glad to get out of the role for a second, and be able to stop limping – on a healthy man it would only work to aggravate the nerves and he wasn't looking forward to more days of it, especially not with the added pain. (RPS: Motivations)
8. 'A tame wolf'. (Gabriel Knight: Angels in Thy Soul)
9. In the beginning... (Gabriel Knight: Pen's B-day ficlet)
10. New Orleans had been easy. (Gabriel Knight: Need)
11. To be tortured by someone you have loved, someone who has loved you - he couldn't imagine worse pain. (KotOR: I Am You)
12. One might say I am obsessed. (National Treasure: Secure the Blessings)
13. Animal. (WWE: Animal)
14. "I... how can I describe all that you mean to me, Han?---" (Star Wars: Rain)

19. Hey, love. (KotOR: Opposite of Forever)
20. Okay, so he was bored. (National Treasure: The Age of Fire and Gravel)
21. The one memory that haunted him the most was of something he didn't even know for sure had ever happened. (National Treasure: A More Perfect Union)
22. I suppose I knew it would happen, sooner or later. (KotOR: Unsuccesfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity)
23. I wake up to a kiss. (WWE: Breakfast in Bed)
24. "Hey Luke, you ever wonder..." (Star Wars: Altered Visions)
25. It had sounded so perfect when Lita had given him the recipe. (WWE: Chocolate Covered... Bunnies?)
Hmmm, patterns. Obviously, not beginning with full sentences;) (Well, 5 out 25 are not but they do stand out.) Only three start with speech (and one of those is an actual quote from the movie), and quite a few are in first person.
Three start with a name, four with 'I' (8 with pronouns), 7 had just about enough info to guess the fandom. Three mention a place.
Surprisingly, only two start with waking up. (Three if you count the one that infers waking up, more if you count metaphorical waking ups.)
I am surprised that half seem to be in present tense. I honestly thought most would in past tense. Shows what I know...;) I also use ellipses a lot.
One pattern to all? I obviously try to begin with something that would keep me reading. Straight to the point, no waxing lyrical on the place or endless descriptions.
