Fic meme

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.

I set myself pairings, too, and had to use them in the order of the songs, then misplaced the list and just tried to use all of them once. I also skipped some of the songs. "Money Song" from Avenue Q is half dialogue, and ... I just couldn't do anything with the Star Wars theme, beyond the obvious.

1. Brooke had always thought Sam would look like a geek when she danced. Not that she'd ever seen her dance, Sam wouldn't do anything so ... so cheerleader-like.

So when she opened the bathroom door into Sam's room to complain about the loud music that was preventing her from writing an essay (well, okay, that wasn't the only thing distracting her but she didn't need to think that aloud), and was met with a sight of the brunette dancing around her room singing along to the music she wouldn't have thought Sam listened to in a million years.

"Don't you give me your love, don't you give me your love!" she was belting out with Scissor Sisters, totally unaware of the view she offered to her step sister.

She did look like a goof. A lovable goof.

Scissor Sisters...

Best not go there. Brooke closed the door quietly behind her.

2. Like mortals, they could never know which was their last day, though in their case it was more the threat of violence than illness or accidents that created the danger. But unlike the ephemeral humans they did have the luxury of time, if they stayed safe.

Time to get to know each other through the years, decades, centuries...

Duncan found himself wishing for the millennia, for the first time in his long life. He thought about all the things he would learn about his lover...

And all this after the first night spent in each others arms.

Louis Armstrong: We Have All the Time in the World; Duncan/Methos from Highlander: The Series

3. 'The lonely wolf' must be the saddest sentiment in the world.

The popular image of the lonely hunter is not only fictitious but also heart-breaking.

Wolves are not meant to be alone. They are pack animals. They mate for life.

And a werewolf's life is a very long indeed. If one was forced to go at it alone...

Lonely wolves are a threat because they are unnatural. Because they have no reason to survive, they take unnecessary risks.

Why not die rather than live alone.

Vukovi Umiro Sami (Croatian Eurovision song from...uhhh, 2005?) (It's something about wolves being alone or something.) Friedrich von Glower from Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within

4. Fuck. This couldn't be it. They wouldn't - couldn't - die here, like this. The pain in his side made darkness and forgetfulness sound very very tempting... but he couldn't give up. Not here, not now. And not like this.

He had to live. Move. Get to safety. Get help. No matter if he died doing so, as long as Sam would survive. Sam was counting on him. Trusting him.

Never give up. Never die. Never surrender. Not like this.

Not alone.

They had so much to do, so much to live for, so many dreams to fulfill. Not to mention fantasies.

They had known each other for years, loved each other for most of that, shared that love for... too short a time, really.

Not here, not now, not alone. One more step. Believe it will be enough. Believe Sam will live.

No matter what.

One more step...

5. Huh? Who...? What...? Where...?

Mouth tasting like the hospital dumpster, neck stuck, feeling uncomfortable from having slept in his clothes House opened his eyes warily, trying to find out where he was.

Not his bed. White bottle of pills and a glass of water on the table next to his head, and he swallowed a pill and the liquid before trying to move.

Wilson. Something about a rain... and dancing? He didn't dance. Not even before it became a physical impossibility.

He frowned. He was clearly becoming delusional because he seemed to remember something about ... kissing? Kissing Wilson?

He blinked his eyes open again, and started when encountering the sight of the younger man on the doorway.

"Tsk, tsk. As your doctor, I say you need to stay in bed for the day."

"Does the lack of clothing on your part mean you're going to join me?"

Sting: Shadows in the Rain; House/Wilson from House M.D.

6.

Having Christie as your lover was... interesting. Not only were their meetings hurried, secret, passionate and crazy but Helena could never tell when she would show up, take her out for a night, and show her things she didn't know existed.

Not that she'd expected the cool and deadly British assassin was into dancing naked in the rain in the back streets of Paris or clubbing the night away in New York or making love in every possible place and position she could think of.

She'd take it. No matter that she didn't know whether she was up or down, whether Christie was loving her or using her, whether she used their dates as a change to kill her victims...

She'd never known she could do those things either.

Ricky Martin: Livin' la vida loca; Christie/Helena from Dead or Alive

7. She could still remember saying her prayers with her mother.

When she was afraid of the ghosts and goblins of the night, her presence and those prayers had helped her sleep.

She hadn't known her father was one of those monsters in the night. She hadn't known she would grow into one.

She hadn't prayed for years.

No one had ever taught Jarod to pray. Not that his analytical mind could ever accept the concept of God, these days.

But somehow, falling asleep with him felt as safe as it had all those years ago.

Maybe because she knew he could slay the monsters, even those living inside her.

Alice Cooper: Lullaby; Jarod/Miss Parker from The Pretender

8. You judge me, little Jedi?

I wonder, if you saw what I have seen, would you be so certain? If you had had to face the decisions I had to, make the choices I did...?

I'm not asking for you to give me your blessing, or acceptance.

All I am asking for is understanding. Take a look at my life, share my burden for a moment.

I saw the danger the Jedi Council saw, but while they meditated, I acted. I sacrificed everything - my light, my reputation, my life, everything, so that you could live, the Republic could live, the galaxy could live.

If you had been in my position, seen the visions I did, would you have acted differently? Maybe, little Jedi, maybe.

But is that your failing or mine?

9. I don't feel like celebrating. For a while I coasted with my high on discovering the treasure, proving everyone wrong, and getting away with murder - figuratively - by giving Ian to the Feds.

That high got me through the first months. Got me married, too, in a highly publicised wedding to my fellow treasure hunter, Abigail Chase.

It took almost half a year for it to sink it. Abigail's fancy New Year's party with all the right quests and experts to talk about the treasure with me, the same people who laughed behind my back and to my face the years before.

Last New Year I spent with Ian, behind God's back, digging for obscure shipping documents in the UK, pausing to share a glass of cheap bubbly (the only thing the local stores offered) before delving back into the huge piles of paper.

I don't think Ian's doing much celebrating in the prison, either. And I put him there.

Fuck.

Paradise Lost: No Celebration; Ben/Ian from National Treasure

10. Would I want you this madly if you weren't a star, if I didn't have to look at thousands and thousands of others wanting you every night?

The tiny growl in my head going, 'mine', how big a part is that of the attraction I have for you? The fact that you're gorgeous, everyone wants you, and I have you?

You're mine, and I'll never let you forget it. They may want you, but you won't let them get close, touch you, kiss you... right? Right? You're mine.

No. I don't think that's the reason.

I want you just as much when we're in our own home, slouching around in our comfortable jeans, watching tv and talking about nothing. And I look at you and want you, just as much as I do when everyone else looks at you and wants you.
